Brockton Policy Subcommittee Clears Dozens of School Manual Revisions for Full Committee

School Committee · Meeting of March 24, 2026

Brockton's School Committee policy subcommittee voted 3-0 to advance more than 80 updated, added, or omitted policy sections to the full School Committee for a final vote. The Policy Manual Review Subcommittee worked through Section J, covering students, and Section K, covering community relations, in a single March 24 session, clearing a bundle of recommendations produced by an outside contractor and district administrators. Member Jean-Claude Gomes held one item — the News Media Relations and News Releases section — after noting that text had been removed from the contractor's draft without explanation, saying "it would be helpful to see that section." A student organizations policy and a newly identified community-use-of-schools regulation were also pulled from the bundle, with the regulation flagged for the full policy process rather than the expedited forward track.
