East Bridgewater School Committee Recertifies FY27 Budget at $27.6 Million

EAST BRIDGEWATER — April 14, 2026 — East Bridgewater School Committee recertifies its FY27 budget at $27,612,488, meeting the town's formal request. The committee voted unanimously Tuesday to adopt a revised figure, down from its originally certified $27,769,488, after School Business Administrator John Shea presented a worksheet showing savings from a retirement ($15,471), a student relocation ($135,350), and a grant carryover ($18,179), plus the removal of a firewall maintenance cost shifted to the capital warrant — partially offset by a $25,000 addition to the site services line. Shea said he confirmed the target figure with town accountant Melanie the day of the meeting. The committee also approved revised student handbooks at all three school buildings incorporating state-mandated full-text policy language, and heard a Central School Building Project update from Superintendent Dr. Williams noting that preloading has begun and that two memorials — the Michaela Kingman Memorial and the Mark Connors Memorial — have been temporarily relocated to the Junior/Senior High School entrance.
