Finance Panel Rejects $300,000 for Private Roads
Finance Committee · Meeting of September 9, 2026
Plymouth finance panel kills $300,000 for private roads, clears $2.9 million snow deficit. The Advisory and Finance Committee voted 8-3 against funding title research for six private Shallow Pond Estates roads tied to a contested 40B project, with Select Board member Kevin Canty warning it's "simply not the time for the town to take on additional liabilities" and member Christine Richards citing the precedent for other private-road neighborhoods. The panel unanimously advanced four other fall Town Meeting articles: a $2,935,450.87 snow and ice deficit payment, a $125,000 Solid Waste Enterprise retained-earnings transfer, rescission of $309,755.41 in unused airport wastewater borrowing authority, and a fallback April 24, 2027 Spring Town Meeting date.
It also tabled a $200,000 Visitor Center grant adjustment until bids return September 24.
