Halifax Select Board closes six-article warrant for July 29 special town meeting, restructuring PFAS fund access. The board voted unanimously 3-0 Monday to close the warrant, which includes four citizen petition articles and two board-sponsored articles designed to undo a PFAS settlement stabilization fund created at the May 11 annual town meeting. Town Administrator Steven Solvo explained that stabilization funds require a two-thirds vote for withdrawals, making it "difficult to take money out of that account" for remediation spending, and that the new articles would transfer accumulated PFAS funds into an account with language allowing the Water Commissioners to spend the money more readily.

The meeting, which ran roughly 13 minutes, also saw a separate $8,500 stormwater account transfer approved 3-0, while a $7,000 transfer from the Streetlights Electricity account to Town Barn Electricity was tabled to July 14 after Chair Tom Pratt flagged that the source account appeared to already carry a negative balance. Mailing costs for the warrant were estimated at $1,300 to $1,500; the July 29 meeting will be held at the Halifax Elementary School gymnasium.
