Other Committee · Meeting of April 9, 2026
Hanover Township unanimously adopted a $33.8 million municipal budget and greenlit the bidding process for a long-delayed restoration of the 1796 Tuttle House. Mayor Ron Gallagher, vice president of the Morris County League of Municipalities, told the committee the township's tax increase is "one of the best ones, period," and noted infrastructure spending doubled from $1.9 million to $4 million year over year. The township has secured $877,550 in combined state and county historic preservation grants for the Tuttle House at 341 Route 10 East, which has sat on the National Register of Historic Places since 1941; a 20 percent township match is required on the $338,300 Morris County portion.
The committee also voted 5-0 to adopt Ordinance 20-2026 overhauling industrial zone regulations, overriding a formal objection from professional planner Donna Holmquist of Preferred Planning Group, who testified on behalf of property owner Thomas Fuller that the ordinance would produce "fragmentation, over-intensification, and a lack of coordinated development." Departing Township Planner Blaise Branchow, at his final public meeting before retirement, defended the ordinance as consistent with modern industrial zone repurposing trends across Morris County.
