KINGSTON — May 4, 2026 — Kingston's Board of Health revoked the operating permit of trash hauler Republic and split on outcomes across three tobacco violation hearings at its May 4 meeting. The board voted unanimously to immediately revoke Republic's permit to haul trash in town, citing the company's failure to submit a quarterly compliance report due April 30 and its prior failure to appear at a hearing where the board had conditionally terminated and then suspended the permit; the revocation notice is to be served by constable, with Kingston Police to be notified, and staff were directed to determine whether Republic is currently contracted to pick up trash at a Kingston school. In tobacco matters, South Shore Vapors received a $1,000 fine and a training requirement for a first violation; Brazilian Point was assessed a $2,000 fine but had its seven-day sales suspension waived after the current owner explained the business had been sold two months prior with permits not yet transferred; and Kingston Liquors, contesting a second violation with point-of-sale records showing no transaction on the cited date, had its hearing continued to a date to be determined pending the availability of the state inspector who conducted the December 11, 2025 compliance check.
