Conservation · Meeting of October 14, 2026

Kingston Conservation Commission approved a herbicide treatment plan for invasive phragmites at Grays Beach and issued enforcement orders setting December 1 deadlines at three properties. Conservation Agent Matt Penella said the beach project will use a low-pressure aquatic glyphosate spray plus targeted cut-stem treatment in dune areas, calling it a project with "only positive effects on the resource areas." The board voted 5-0 to approve it and issue an order of conditions. Separately, Penella reported the town has been fining Don Gillespie of Well Be Builders LLC $300 per day since September 25 for failing to file restoration paperwork at Jones River Estates.

The commission also voted 4-0 with one abstention to recommend former commissioner Natalie Wegman to the Select Board to fill a vacant seat, and continued five pending certificate-of-compliance requests to October 28 or December 9.
