Lakeville sets May 19 vote on $4.9 million, three-year override. The Select Board and Finance Committee voted jointly to pursue a Proposition 2½ override totaling $4,915,700 across fiscal 2027-2029, split into three standalone ballot questions worth $2,615,700, $1.3 million and $1 million. Town Administrator Andrew cited a 16 percent health-insurance jump, a $1.8 million rise in the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District assessment, and the "second-worst new-growth year in 25 years." Council on Aging Director Laurie Fahey warned "our wellness checks are not courtesy — they are a critical safety measure," citing possible Friday closures.

Students said the district ranks 376th of 396 Massachusetts districts in per-pupil spending. Lakeville has not held an override since 2014; the average $625,000 home would see a $513.26 tax increase in year one.
