Lakeville Select Board accepts FY27 town meeting warrant and lifts hiring freeze for two positions at joint budget session. The board voted 4-0 Tuesday to accept a draft annual and special town meeting warrant for referral to town counsel, including articles for a local meals tax estimated to generate $20,000 to $25,000 yearly, a cryptocurrency ATM prohibition, and a non-binding municipal decarbonization motion. Town Administrator Andrew told the board a proposed state supplemental budget includes roughly $206,000 in Chapter 90 funds that should cover most of the town's $241,000 snow and ice deficit from fiscal year 2026.

A 4-0 vote waived the hiring freeze for a planning department clerical position and a full-time police dispatcher, both funded under override and non-override scenarios. Fire Chief O'Brien asked the board to pursue a MassDOT speed study on Bedford Street, where the current 50 mph limit would run past the new fire station site. The override community vote, joined by all five Old Colony communities, is tentatively set for June 25, with public outreach sessions beginning April 25 at the Lakeville Public Library.
