Library Board · Meeting of August 17, 2026
Kingston library trustees adopt a revised civility policy and await a fall cost estimate on a building project. The board unanimously approved updated language restricting smoking and vaping within 30 feet of the entrance and adding rules on disruptive adult behavior, the policy's first change since 2015. The library director told trustees an architect's report on total project costs is expected by mid-September, after meeting with State Representative Kathleen LaNatra about a possible legislative earmark grant.
Trustees also discussed a still-undrafted photography policy, reviewing models from Worcester, Boston, Longmeadow and Needham libraries, with trustee Donald pressing for advance notice when outside groups use library facilities. The library's Hoopla spending reached $1,650.91 in July with 706 circulations, and non-resident patrons account for roughly 30 percent of overall circulation.
