Norwell Completes Emergency Water Main Repair on Old Meeting House Lane

NORWELL — The Town of Norwell announced that an emergency water main repair on Old Meeting House Lane has been completed, closing out a disruption that had prompted a boil water order earlier this month.

The town's News Flash feed confirmed on July 17 that the emergency water main repair on Old Meeting House Lane is finished, following a boil water order that was lifted on July 11. Water Superintendent Jason Federico had addressed residents earlier in the week with an update on system conditions, part of a string of water-related communications from Town Hall this summer that also included Tier 4 water restrictions announced back in June.

Separately, the town is warning residents about a permit-related scam targeting people who have applied for building or other permits, urging anyone contacted suspiciously to verify requests directly with Town Hall before making payments or sharing information. The town also flagged elevated wildfire smoke conditions on July 15 as a public health advisory, and continues to recruit volunteers through its "Join Team Norwell" employment initiative. Applications for several Advisory Board vacancies are due by July 31.

The Norwell Public Library has launched a new Device Lending Program, adding four Dell Pro 14 laptops for in-library use and seven Dell Latitude touch-screen laptops available for take-home checkout; residents can ask at the Main Desk for details. The library also announced it was awarded a technology grant worth more than $35,000 through a state program.

Library patrons should note that, due to budget cuts, the library will no longer offer seasonal Sunday hours this year, a change outlined in the library's FY26 budget materials.
