Planning Board Unanimously Approves Towne Tavern Outdoor Patio on North Bedford Street
EAST BRIDGEWATER — May 4, 2026 — East Bridgewater Planning Board approves Towne Tavern outdoor patio and clears Bisson Lane covenant. The board voted unanimously Monday to approve a site plan by Eagan Architects, dated April 23, 2026, allowing owner David Barry of BJB Properties, LLC to add an outdoor patio at 175 North Bedford Street, replacing roughly 8,000 square feet of asphalt with landscaped dining space while maintaining a total 312-seat occupancy supported by the existing parking count. Chair Kevin Riley noted the project had already cleared two pre-application track meetings with the fire, police, and building departments before reaching the board. The board also unanimously signed a covenant release for the Bisson Lane subdivision, resolving a recording gap in which the covenant appeared in the decision document but was never separately filed at the Plymouth County Registry of Deeds. Riley closed the meeting by alerting members that a proposed multifamily zoning article for North Bedford Street near the Whitman line has been placed early in the Town Meeting warrant — scheduled for May 11 — immediately after the budget, in an effort to capture a fuller voting audience before attendance thins.
