Plympton Approves $16.2M Budget and Full Town Meeting Warrant

PLYMPTON — April 13, 2026 — Plympton approves $16.2M budget and clears full town meeting warrant at joint board session. The Select Board and Finance Committee voted unanimously Monday to recommend a $16,179,691 operating budget as Article 4 of the annual town meeting warrant, after the meeting's sharpest exchange centered on a Silver Lake Regional School assessment of roughly $3.5 million that includes a deferred maintenance recapture plan. Jason Fraser of the Silver Lake Regional School Committee told the joint boards that a 120-page engineering report found $55 million in deferred repairs across the district's two buildings — an amount he said could reach $73 million with inflation over a decade — and defended the plan against a board member's challenge that the district had "mismanaged the maintenance of the buildings for decades." Two Dennett Elementary articles covering a phone system replacement and roof repairs were struck from the warrant after Representative Lanatra and Senator Dylan Fernandes secured state supplemental budget earmarks for both items. The board also voted unanimously to prohibit any town board or committee from using personal Gmail or similar accounts for official business, citing open meeting law concerns over shared document editing, and appointed Bridgette Martins as executive assistant for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2026.
