Scituate Approves $991,635 to Rebuild Kazlousky Park Basketball Courts

SCITUATE — July 7, 2026 — Scituate Select Board approves $991,635 court renovation contract and licenses three new mobile vendors. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to award Dandel Construction a contract for the full reconstruction of outdoor basketball courts at Kazlousky Park, correcting an agenda error that had listed the figure as $1,139,348.50; Recreation Director Nick Lombardo confirmed the lower number reflects the elimination of alternates, and that Dandel was the only bidder of three to come in under budget. The project uses post-tension concrete, includes a new drainage system and moisture barrier to address prior water infiltration, and is targeted for completion by late September. The board also approved hawker and peddler licenses for The Daily Tide mobile coffee truck (owner Tanya Zucker), Streetpops all-natural popsicles (manager April Lawton, on behalf of owner Sarah Bornick), and Sport Per Tutti ice cream (owner Corrie Hulten). Mary Finegan was appointed to the Scituate Housing Authority as the tenant board member for a five-year term. Finance Director Nancy Holt secured board approval for $450,000 in revolving fund expenditure limit increases, year-end interdepartmental budget transfers, and authorization for Town Administrator James Boudreau to file the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust loan application for the North Scituate Sewer Expansion — with a filing deadline the following morning.
