The SBA says tryouts for the winter travel season run the weeks of Oct. 19 and Oct. 26, and players must attend both tryout dates for their grade group, bringing a basketball and water; the organization notes there will be no makeup dates. Practices are set to begin in November, with games starting the first weekend of December. The SBA is also seeking volunteer coaches for the season and asks interested parents to email dmahery@hotmail.com. Per the SBA site, Scituate's travel teams compete in the South Shore Girls Basketball League, the South Shore Youth Boys Basketball League and Old Colony Girls Basketball, covering grades 3 through 8.
