Wareham Rolls Out Silver Alert Program to Find Missing Seniors
WAREHAM — The town has rolled out a new Silver Alert Program, a collaborative initiative designed to help locate missing seniors, town officials announced this week.

The Silver Alert Program is the most significant new initiative from Town Hall in recent days, giving public safety officials another tool to find missing older residents. Separately, the town has posted outdoor watering restrictions and beach closure notices for residents to review.
The Department of Public Works will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on August 1 from 9 a.m. to noon at Municipal Maintenance, 95 Charge Pond Road; a Wareham or Carver transfer station sticker is required. The town is also promoting a free-ride program with Circuit, and ADA improvements are underway at the Lillian Gregerman Bandshell.

The Wareham Free Library has shifted to summer hours, closing on Saturdays through Labor Day. The library's midweek calendar is busy: "Concerts on the Lawn" brings the Kareem Sanjaghi Band on Monday, July 20 at 7 p.m., and author Judy Lannon discusses her book "Back to the Cape" on Wednesday, July 22 at 6:30 p.m. Younger patrons can catch Gatemen Storytime at Spillane Field on Monday, July 20 at 10 a.m. The library's Friends group is also running a Quilt Raffle Fundraiser alongside its July Book Sale, set for July 23-25, with the raffle drawing on July 25.
COMING UP
Wareham hosts a full slate of town meetings this week: the Board of Water Commissioners meets Monday, July 20, with a companion Onset meeting the same day. Tuesday, July 21 brings the Affordable Housing Trust, the Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw Review and Revision Steering Committee, and the Select Board, all on the agenda. The Wareham Housing Authority holds its Annual Plan Hearing Wednesday, July 22.
On the community side, Illumination Night 2026 is set for Sunday, July 19, and the Wareham Gatemen play home games against Harwich on Monday, July 20 and again on Wednesday, July 22.
