Wareham Rolls Out Silver Alert Program to Locate Missing Seniors
WAREHAM — The town has launched a new Silver Alert Program aimed at locating missing seniors, one of several public notices posted this week alongside water restrictions, a household hazardous waste collection date, and accessibility upgrades at the Lillian Gregerman Bandshell.

Wareham officials this week announced the launch of the Wareham Silver Alert Program, described on the town's website as "a collaborative effort that helps locate missing seniors." The town's public notice did not detail the program's specific protocols.
The town also posted notices on outdoor watering restrictions and beach closures, without specifying restriction details in the public alert, and reminded residents that DOXO, a third-party bill-payment site, "is not affiliated with the Town of Wareham for online bill payment." Separately, National Grid notified residents of ongoing gas meter replacement work in town.
The Department of Public Works announced a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day for Saturday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at Municipal Maintenance, 95 Charge Pond Road; a Wareham or Carver transfer station sticker is required. The town also flagged ADA accessibility improvements underway at the Lillian Gregerman Bandshell and highlighted a new free local ride program through Circuit.

The Wareham Free Library, now on its summer schedule with Saturday closures through Labor Day, rolled out a run of upcoming programs. Its Concerts on the Lawn series opens Monday, July 20, at 7 p.m. with the Kareem Sanjaghi Band, the same morning the library's Gatemen Storytime returns to Spillane Field at 10 a.m. Author Judy Lannon discusses her book "Back to the Cape" on Wednesday, July 22, at 6:30 p.m., and the library's July Book Sale runs July 23-25, ending with a special quilt raffle fundraiser on July 25.

Illumination Night 2026 is set for Sunday, July 19. On Monday, July 20, the Board of Water Commissioners meets in two sessions — a regular meeting and a separate Onset meeting — and the Wareham Gatemen host Harwich at Spillane Field. Tuesday, July 21, brings the Affordable Housing Trust, the Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw Review and Revision Steering Committee, and the Select Board, all meeting the same day. On Wednesday, July 22, the Wareham Housing Authority holds its Annual Plan hearing and the Gatemen play another home game.
