Whitman Council on Aging Approves March Report, Sets May 13 Meeting
WHITMAN — April 8, 2026 — Whitman Council on Aging approves March director's report highlighting record St. Patrick's Day turnout. The board voted unanimously Wednesday to accept minutes, financials, and a director's report describing a March calendar that included a St. Patrick's Day lunch attended by 62 seniors — with a waitlist of roughly 20 more — catered by Lisa from Nautical Mile with corned beef and cabbage. Other March programming included a travel presentation by Nancy Franks, live Irish folk songs by Bill Reedy, a magic show by "Ed the Wizard," a Houdini presentation by Jack Ryan, a Native American flute performance by Skip Waite, and a caricature session by "Dr. Cornfish." A sump pump failure at the facility was resolved, with one unit replaced. The board also noted that the local fuel assistance program, administered by a coordinator identified only as John, received a small supplemental allocation but closes April 30. The next meeting is scheduled for May 13 at 9 a.m.
