WAREHAM — The Wareham Zoning Board of Appeals approved special permits for two nonconforming properties and heard that a rewritten zoning bylaw is nearing readiness for Spring Town Meeting. The board voted 5-0 to let Alexander Estes add a second story at 6 Eldridge Court and voted 5-0 to let Matthew Dessert rebuild a collapsed deck at 3 Allen Avenue in its original, nonconforming spot. Director of Planning Joshua Faherty said the third draft of the 134-page bylaw rewrite reorganizes 12 articles into 11 and pairs with a new zoning map targeted for February 2027.
Clerk James Eacobacci warned against "134 pages" of changes landing on voters who think "all we did was clean it up." The board also learned a notice-of-violation appeal at 2530 Cranberry Highway was withdrawn after the owner agreed to pursue a full site plan, and the board noted three vacant associate member seats.
