Zoning Board · Meeting of October 28, 2026

BRIDGEWATER — The Bridgewater Zoning Board of Appeals voted 3-0 to grant a 9.9-foot side setback variance for a four-season room addition at 68 Rear Shaw Road. Chairman Brian Heath, Anna Klimas and Amanda Metell approved the request from homeowners Kevin and Elizabeth Curry, reducing the required 20-foot setback to 10.1 feet under bylaw Section 4.2. Engineer Larry Silva, representing the applicants, said the irregularly shaped lot is "41 percent" smaller than a conforming parcel in the district and left little room to expand.

Building Commissioner Steve Solari explained that the addition qualifies as a four-season room because "you're insulating it to the current building code so it can be all year round." Heath said "because of the lot size, the house was, is placed, it really does limit what they can do." No abutters objected, and Solari separately noted the town currently has no dedicated zoning administrator while an interim director runs the Community and Economic Development department.
