Bridgewater CPC approves $72,505 for library upgrades
Other Committee · Meeting of September 23, 2026
Bridgewater's Community Preservation Committee splits $88,451 library accessibility plan, funding windows and interior work now. The panel voted 6-0 to recommend $72,505 for library window replacement and interior ADA and handrail work, but held back $15,946 for an exterior ramp pending historic district design approval. Member Calvin Hunt said he wasn't "ready to vote to recommend" the ramp without a plan that avoids damaging the building's brick facade.
The committee also found the Old State Farm Trail eligible for a $100,000 construction funding request, with NRTB's Kitty Daugherty citing roughly $125,000 already raised from grants including $49,989.13 from the National Park Foundation. Members separately voted $7,500 from administrative funds for consultant J.M. Booth to study reusing the School Street fire station, with member Bill Smith calling a full assessment "very much warranted" before any demolition.
