Bridgewater Health Agent Warns Formal Trash Nuisance Fines Are Coming

Bridgewater's Board of Health signaled a shift toward formal trash nuisance enforcement at its July 22 meeting. Health Agent Eric Badger told members Joe Sacco, Kevin Bloomquist, and William Prince that he has visited some properties two to three times without response and that repeat violators and rodent complaints are making continued informal outreach unsustainable. The board gave its informal blessing for Badger to begin issuing nuisance letters with fines, and acknowledged it will serve as the appeals body for any contested citations.

On a separate track, Badger said he is drafting a mutual-aid Memorandum of Understanding with East Bridgewater's Board of Health to formalize backup coverage during staffing gaps, a return to pre-HPHEG-grant practice he attributed to ongoing budget constraints across the region. The board set its next meeting for August 27, when a draft nuisance letter template and an MOU update are both expected to be on the table.
