The Select Board, at its July 28 meeting, voted to proclaim Saturday, August 1, 2026 as Camp Clark Centennial Appreciation Day in Plymouth. The proclamation states Camp Clark was established in town in 1926 and has grown to encompass 83 acres along Hedges Pond Road, operating under the stewardship of the Old Colony YMCA. Board member Golden read the proclamation, calling Camp Clark "a cornerstone of South Shore youth recreation" for 100 consecutive years, with programming including swimming, boating, archery, a challenge ropes course and arts education.
Christina Wilson, representing the YMCA, told the board the camp currently serves between 300 and 400 kids a week and that "nobody is turned away due to their inability to pay," with breakfast and lunch provided. She invited the community to the centennial celebration at Hedges Pond, which she said is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 1.
