Other Committee · Meeting of November 2, 2026

Brockton's Public Safety Committee heard a BAT rider's safety complaints and recommended the matter favorably to the full council. BAT Administrator Michael Lambert did not attend, but a letter read into the record said BAT's injury rate ranks at least 90 percent below the national average and called contrary accusations "false or an error." Rider Richard Ripley said he has reported more than 200 incidents over 44 months and has had no reply to an Oct. 1, 2025 email. A councilor said the city has no authority to regulate a regional transit authority and pointed Ripley to the BAT Advisory Board and the state Department of Transportation.

The committee voted by voice to send the matter to the full council.
