Select Board · Meeting of October 26, 2026

BROCKTON — The Brockton City Council approved a $2.3 million bond for new fire trucks and adopted a pay plan ordinance on a 9-1 vote, with Councilor Thompson dissenting. The council also referred two larger items to the Finance Committee: a $2.7 million request to cover legal settlements, including $2.2 million in firefighter medical claims against Massachusetts General Hospital, and an $18,184,462.35 transfer from the Pension Stabilization Fund covering fiscal 2027 deficits, including $4.79 million in non-net school spending. Councilor Farwell asked that "either the superintendent or her designee" be included in budget talks given that "about $8.4 million of this is for schools." The council also confirmed Sharif Mapp to the Conservation Commission, approved a residency waiver for Animal Control Administrative Assistant Colleen O'Donnell, and granted four motor vehicle repair license transfers.
