Select Board · Meeting of October 19, 2026
Abington Select Board voted unanimously to explore switching municipal health insurers after cash-flow trouble at its current carrier. Town Manager Michael Moresco said the town, now the group's largest member, once had to cover "a double bill because they had a cash flow problem," and will work with broker Lockton Companies toward possibly joining Mayflower Municipal Health Group, which holds roughly $30 million in reserve. The board also heard an Apex consulting presentation on a regional MWRA pipeline option costing $130 million to $240 million, with Abington-Rockland's share near $25 million and water unlikely before the mid-2030s.
Moresco warned of a projected $7.4 million deficit by fiscal 2032. The board voted 4-1 to let the Council on Aging add an Amazon wish list to its Giving Tree program.
