East Bridgewater Board of Health Approves Three Septic Permits, $24,650 Landfill Invoice

EAST BRIDGEWATER — February 2, 2026 — East Bridgewater Board of Health approves three septic construction permits and clears more than $25,000 in invoices at February 2 meeting. Vice Chair Rob Lyons presided with Clerk Thomas Duquette, Jr. after Chair Andrew Hudson was absent due to illness. The board unanimously approved two local upgrade variances from Collins Engineering — one at 713 Bridge Street allowing a foundation setback reduction from 20 to 10 feet and a groundwater separation reduction from 12 to 2 inches using a biokinetic treatment system, and one at 1126 Plymouth Street reducing the required groundwater-to-soil-absorption-system separation from five feet to two feet via an Elgin alternative system for owner United Development 809 LLC. A third standard Title V permit was approved for 204 Thatcher Street with no variances. The board's largest invoice, $24,650 to Brown and Caldwell for Bridge Street Landfill monitoring, was approved without discussion. Health Agent Mike Soares also briefed the board on Facebook-driven concern about septic odors near the Mary Lou gas station, reporting he had investigated that afternoon, detected no odor, and will monitor the area daily while holding a repair plan ready for a nearby property already identified as being in potential failure.
