East Bridgewater School Committee Approves Recording Policy, FY27 School Calendar

EAST BRIDGEWATER — February 17, 2026 — East Bridgewater School Committee adopts recording policy and approves 2026-2027 school calendar at February session. The committee voted unanimously Tuesday to approve Policy IKACC, which governs audio and video recording of private school meetings including IEP sessions, waiving the first reading to pass the policy in a single night after legal counsel Murphy, Hesse, Toomey, and Lahane advised that consistent written standards would reduce case-by-case liability. School Business Administrator John Shea reported a projected year-end positive balance of $165,578 when revolving funds are applied, down from roughly $205,000 at the prior meeting. The draft 2026-2027 calendar, approved unanimously, sets an August 31 student start date — two weeks before a late Labor Day — with staff returning August 25 for three professional development days. Superintendent Gina Williams reported the district is 95 percent restored following a January 28 cybersecurity incident and that construction manager at risk Gil Bain formally took possession of the Central School site, with approximately 30,000 cubic yards of soil set to arrive over roughly 1,500 truckloads ahead of a projected February 2027 groundbreaking.
