Hull Select Board Rejects Summer Bar-Hours Pilot, Approves Seawall Traffic Changes

HULL — June 24, 2026 — Hull Select Board votes 3-2 to reject state summer bar-hours pilot. The board, meeting Wednesday at Hull Town Hall, declined to opt into a state temporary pilot program — effective through July 31, 2026 — that would have allowed local bars and restaurants to extend closing times by one hour, up to 3 a.m. Member Irwin Nesoff led the opposition, citing recurring resident noise complaints and the town's lack of a noise ordinance; Member Jerry Taverna, who moved to opt in, argued Hull's compressed summer season makes even a three-week revenue window meaningful. The board unanimously approved the final traffic configuration for the nearly complete Nantasket Avenue seawall project: one-way northbound traffic along the seawall section, a 20 mph speed limit on that stretch, and a 25 mph limit on Fitzpatrick Way, with the current painted-island arrangement at the Beacon Road-Fitzpatrick Way intersection remaining in place. The board also approved a liquor license transfer for a new Vietnamese-and-seafood restaurant, Tide and Flames LLC, at 145 Nantasket Avenue under proposed manager Phuong Tran, and voted 4-1 to move its standing meeting start time from 7 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. while keeping its Wednesday night schedule.
