Lakeville Planning Board defers vote on Country Club 'eligible location'
Planning Board · Meeting of July 30, 2026
Lakeville Planning Board holds off on 'eligible location' call for Country Club housing project. Town Counsel Jay Tallerman told the board Thursday that designating the Lakeville Country Club site an "eligible location" under state law would let Fall Town Meeting pass Thorndike Development's zoning bylaw by simple majority instead of two-thirds. The property currently lacks public water infrastructure, which Thorndike has offered to fund but which complicates the finding, Tallerman said.
Chair Michelle McEachern said resident feedback has largely favored the project, adding "I think a lot of people think this is the best outcome for that property." The board took no vote on the designation, deferring it to its public hearing on the bylaw expected this fall, and voted 4-0 to adjourn at 7:18 p.m.
