Marshfield Select Board directs staff to draft two budget options as town faces $7.5 million deficit. Kelley both raised concerns that an override would not solve structural spending problems, while the member identified as Trish said prior leadership bore responsibility for the shortfall. Peter, citing work in Norwell and Braintree, argued that overrides succeed only when accompanied by a five-year fiscal roadmap and firm spending commitments. The board also named five citizens — Christine McCarthy, Doug Russell, Cher Spada, Dennis Kelleher, and Joe Ring — to a town administrator search committee that will hold its first meeting the week of March 19.

Town Clerk Narice Casper confirmed the annual town meeting remains on its charter-mandated date of Monday, April 28.
