Marshfield Select Board Extends Interim Town Administrator Through August 15

MARSHFIELD — June 22, 2026 — Marshfield's two-member Select Board extended interim Town Administrator Peter Morin's contract through August 15 and made more than 30 board and committee reappointments, but remained deadlocked on the town's permanent leadership at its June 22 meeting. Chair Rick Smith and member R. Kelly voted 2-0 to keep Morin on at no more than 20 hours per week while a July 25 special election fills the board's vacant third seat. A motion by Smith to place the $7 million override budget option 3C on the July 25 ballot failed for lack of a second. The board also split on Town Counsel Robert Galvin's reappointment — Kelly cited a $1 million loss tied to a former fire chief's case and the town's Supreme Judicial Court defeat on MBTA zoning — leaving Galvin's future to a future vote. The board unanimously accepted $8,240 in donations across four departments, including a $5,000 gift from Rockland Federal Credit Union to fund the Marshfield Cultural Council's four-concert Town Green summer series. Capital Budget Committee and Conservation Commission reappointments were deferred to June 29.
