Marshfield Select Board Interviews Four Finalists for Permanent Town Administrator

MARSHFIELD -- June 10, 2026, Marshfield Select Board spent nearly four hours interviewing four finalists for its long-vacant permanent town administrator post. Chair Rick Smith and member Eric Kelly questioned Daniel Riviello, assistant town manager in Provincetown; Peter Caruso, seven-year town administrator in Millville and former private-sector CFO; James Criebler Jr., a 33-year municipal veteran who addressed past departures from Winchendon and Townsend; and Edward Langill, chief of staff and acting CFO for the city of Weymouth, which operates on a roughly $260 million budget. Caruso was the only candidate to agree to a trial period without contractual protections; Riviello declined outright, saying "I have to uproot my life." Before the interviews, the board unanimously authorized Town Counsel to execute an estoppel certificate clearing the way for lender KeyBank to close on a multi-million dollar construction loan for the NextGrid solar facility at the town's former landfill at 23 Clay Pit Road, with roughly $1 million in annual lease revenue expected to reach the town as early as July 2027.
