MARSHFIELD — March 23, 2026 — Marshfield Select Board tables beach sticker price increase, approves Corner Cafe liquor upgrade. The board voted unanimously Monday to defer action on a proposed $10 hike in resident beach sticker prices — from $60 to $70 — after Beaches Director Cindy Castro could not provide a complete cost and revenue projection, and residents argued that enforcement of existing parking rules could generate a comparable $20,000 shortfall offset without a fee increase. The board separately approved converting the Corner Cafe at 2000 Ocean Street from a year-round wine and malt beverage license to a full all-alcohol license under a state law allowing municipalities to add non-transferable licenses beyond the existing cap. Town Administrator Charlie Pillsbury told the board a joint session with the Advisory Board on Wednesday will present two budget options — a cuts-only "A budget" that eliminates a roughly $7 million deficit with no override, and a "B budget" requiring a $4 million operational override — with the completed warrant and both budgets to be posted publicly by March 30 to meet a Thursday printing deadline for the April 27 annual town meeting.
