Norwell Library Ends Sunday Hours As Budget Cuts Bite

Norwell Public Library has eliminated its seasonal Sunday hours as a result of townwide budget cuts, the library confirmed this week, marking one of the more visible local impacts of Norwell's tightened fiscal 2026 spending plan.

The Norwell Public Library, at 64 South Street, announced that due to budgetary cuts it will no longer offer seasonal Sunday hours, a reduction library staff say stems directly from the town's fiscal 2026 budget. The library said details on the FY26 budget and its expected impacts on library operations are posted on its website for residents who want the full picture. The library's regular weekday hours are unaffected: Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The library continues to point residents toward its July newsletter for a fuller rundown of programs and services, and toward its recently expanded digital borrowing and museum-pass offerings as ways to access library resources outside in-person hours.
