Scituate Planning Board Approves Two Accessory Dwelling Units Thursday Night
SCITUATE — July 9, 2026 — Scituate Planning Board approves two accessory dwelling units and continues a common driveway hearing to August. At the July 9 meeting, Chair Patricia A. Lambert and the full board unanimously approved a 520-square-foot detached ADU at 27 Barker Road for applicant Candace Thornton and a 732-square-foot second-floor barn ADU at 111 Summer Street for applicants Patricia W. and William E. Baird, both subject to standard conditions including restrictive covenants barring short-term rentals. The Barker Road approval included an added condition requiring a walkway to the ADU to appear on plans before a building permit is issued, after engineer Rob Carlson of Grady Consulting acknowledged the original design provided no formal pedestrian access. Lambert noted that zoning permits only one curb cut per primary dwelling, ruling out a separate ADU driveway. The common driveway special permit hearing for 90-96 Stockbridge Road, held by Pierre Coll and LuLu Tsai through the Stockbridge Realty Trust, was continued to August 13 with a town-filing deadline extended to October 30, 2026.
