Scituate School Committee candidate Smith touts legal background, progressive priorities ahead of June 6 vote

SCITUATE — May 27, 2026 — Scituate School Committee candidate Coleman Smith outlined a progressive platform in a televised interview ahead of the June 6 town election. Smith, a recent Boston College Law School graduate and former Massachusetts Attorney General's office staffer, is challenging incumbent Erica McMahon for Position 2 — the only contested race on the June 6 ballot, to be decided at Scituate High School gymnasium. Smith said his legal background in public notice, collective bargaining, and public comment law is directly relevant to the board's current workload, which includes a new elementary school under construction at the Hatherly site and an ongoing superintendent search.
