Scituate Select Board Approves Three Summer Events, Awards $1.67 Million in Contracts

SCITUATE — July 21, 2026 — Scituate Select Board approves new charity dinner on Front Street, three events total, and nearly $1.7 million in public works contracts. Meeting on July 21, the board unanimously approved a special event permit for Heritage Days on August 8 and 9, a debut long-table fundraising dinner called Taste of Scituate benefiting Cancer Can on September 12 — proposed by Scituate resident and cancer survivor Mike Pisco — and a harbor-side National Night Out on August 5 presented by Police Chief Mark Thompson. The board awarded a $1,497,000 contract to Ardent Group Inc. for replacement of the First Parish Road pump station, an $85,535 contract to G.B. Hastie for an automated gate at the Transfer Station, and a not-to-exceed $85,500 engineering contract to Weston and Sampson for Route 3A and Arborway Drive water main design. Town Administrator Jim warned the board that FEMA has notified the town it intends to abandon multiple legacy disaster reimbursement projects, potentially leaving Scituate liable for approximately $3 million in costs the town had expected the federal government to cover.
