Select Board · Meeting of September 15, 2026

Lakeville OKs earth-removal peer review, eyes fall funding for two aging parks. The Select Board voted 4-0 to hire an outside firm, at applicant expense of $31,000 to $33,000, to peer-review a 30 Holland Road earth-removal application, with air-quality provisions added at a member's request. Town Administrator Andrew Sukeforth said he'll return September 29 with construction costs for John Pond Park and wants a roughly $40,000 free cash article for Ted Williams Camp engineering at fall Town Meeting, which closes its warrant September 23.

The board also adopted a final abutter program policy 4-0, approved a regional animal shelter agreement bringing the town of Raynham back in, and sent a battery energy storage bylaw back to the Planning Board over setback and fire-safety questions. "It's caused quite a bit of controversy," Sukeforth said of a Plymouth County hiring dispute, where the county's new administrator was hired at $185,000 to $190,000 and the treasurer has sued the county.
