Selectboard · Meeting of June 26, 2026

Duxbury Selectboard approved a last-minute event permit for the Heather Bone Foundation's annual Kids Parade. In a special remote meeting June 26, the board voted 3-0 to let the foundation use Taylor Field on June 28 after staff discovered the application, an annual formality, had not been processed amid an office staffing transition. Staff member Ashley told the board she had worked with applicant Cole O'Shaughnessy to secure a letter, application and check after police flagged the missing paperwork.

The event, expected to draw about 400 people, will run 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with two police detail officers, three portable toilets required by the Board of Health, and food from Chestnut Street Grill. Member Brian E. Glennon said "everything appears to be in order," and Selectboard member Amy M. MacNab called the episode "a big scramble" the board hopes to avoid repeating.
