Selectboard · Meeting of August 3, 2026

Duxbury's Selectboard approved a slate of fee and license actions while residents pressed for answers on the stalled Powder Point Bridge project. The board voted 4-0 to raise cemetery cremation fees 25 percent and casket fees 50 percent effective August 4, after Cemetery Superintendent Chip Lochetti said software costs alone rose 133 percent. Members also signed an intermunicipal agreement letting Marshfield pay contractor Northern Construction directly for the final stretch of a shared seawall.

The board declined to abate a disputed water bill totaling roughly $4,900 despite member Brian Glennon's sympathy for the homeowner, saying meter data "very clearly" showed the water had passed through. On the bridge, residents including Alicia Babcock and Peter Dalton urged pursuit of wood rehabilitation and a town historic-eligibility filing; the board scheduled an August 31 session with the Powder Point Bridge Advisory Committee.
