Wareham Town Offices Close Thursday for Independence Day Holiday
All Wareham town offices, including the Wareham Free Library, will be closed Thursday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day — and with a cooling center opening Wednesday and a summer reading party this afternoon, the holiday weekend is already under way.
TOWN HALL
Residents wrapping up any town business should plan around a two-day stretch of closed offices: Town Hall and all municipal departments will be shut Thursday, July 3, for the Independence Day holiday. The closure was posted to the town's News Flash on June 29.
On a warmer note, the town has opened a cooling center at an unspecified municipal location on both Wednesday, July 2, and Thursday, July 3, from noon to 3:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the free, air-conditioned space during the holiday heat.
Also on the town's homepage this cycle: the Onset Fireworks Committee is gathering community input through a survey about the future of fireworks at Onset's 150th Anniversary celebration in 2027, and Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at Municipal Maintenance, 95 Charge Pond Road — a Wareham or Carver Transfer Station sticker is required for entry.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Wareham Free Library launches its Summer Reading Dance Party Kick-Off with DJ Ooch today, Tuesday, June 30, at 1 p.m. — a fitting send-off into the long holiday weekend. The library is open today during regular hours.
Looking ahead to this week: on Wednesday, July 1, at 6:30 p.m., the library hosts "The Women of '76," a program featuring presenter Rita Parisi. The Wareham Gatemen also have a home game Wednesday, July 1, and again Friday, July 3. The 18th Annual Onset Summer of Love Music Series continues Wednesday as well.
Note that the library will be closed Saturdays through Labor Day as summer hours are now in effect, and it will be fully closed Friday, July 3.
