Bridgewater Panel Voids and Reissues Sand and Stone Enforcement Order
Conservation Board · Meeting of August 27, 2026
Bridgewater Conservation Commission scraps and restarts a wetlands enforcement case tied to town drinking-water wells. The board voted unanimously to cancel its 2025 enforcement order against Bridgewater Sand and Stone at 1453 Plymouth Street and issue a new one after conservation agent Dan presented aerial imagery from 1995 to 2026 showing roughly two acres of mapped wetlands filled near the aquifer's Zone 1 and Zone 2 protection areas for the town's wells. Owner Joe Arruda disputed parts of the analysis but agreed to "start fresh." The commission also hired an independent, town-funded peer reviewer under a state-required escrow account.
Separately, the board continued a 550 Curve Street vernal pool case to September 10 after peer reviewer Sam Carew said, "did you explore every other option before you had to give these impacts?" Commissioners closed or continued eight other hearings, including a rare eastern box turtle sighting at 0 Wildwood Place.
