Conservation board orders peer review of Vernon Street stream project
Conservation Board · Meeting of September 10, 2026
Bridgewater conservation board orders peer review of contested Vernon Street stream crossing. The commission voted unanimously to require independent technical review of a 35-foot culvert project over Snows Brook after abutter Kennelly and attorney David Perry alleged illegal filling had raised flood levels and caused a sinkhole on neighboring property. Attorney Megan Kravitz, representing applicant Manuel Vujinga Jr., said "there is no dispute my clients did not install the SOC-approved design" and asked for 30 days to submit revised plans; the hearing continues September 24.
Separately, the board fined the owner of 1010 Elm Street $300 and ordered new enforcement after finding stockpiled debris and unidentified chemical containers near a wetland restoration area, the property's fourth violation. At 550 Curve Street, homeowner Kevin Bonfus said he has spent about $22,000 on redesigns and asked the board "to give me the go-ahead," but the hearing was continued again to rework the driveway layout.
