Other Committee 2026-08-12 Part 2 · Meeting of August 12, 2026

Bridgewater charter panel takes no votes, fields hours of resident frustration. Chair Scott Pitta told residents at the second of three public forums that the Charter Review Committee, which includes members Lindsay Marshall, Eric Diaz, Jean DePetissa, Ed Ivaldi, James Walsh and Brad McKinnon, will not study alternatives to the council-manager government but could recommend the council form a separate study committee. "We are not a subcommittee of the town council," Pitta said.

Residents pushed for a charter-mandated deadline forcing the council to act on recommendations, citing 2020 proposals still pending, and for a town ombudsman office to track unanswered questions. Councilor Adeline Ellenberg said "the public speaks and then there's a wall," describing a communication breakdown under the open meeting law. The committee must report to the council by May 2027, with two more forums set for August 24 and September 12.
