Select Board · Meeting of October 13, 2026

Hanson Select Board voted to send a sharper letter after a county board hike added $330,000 to the town's bill. Town Administrator Lisa Green said the Plymouth County Retirement Board voted last month to extend its funding schedule to 2032 while raising assessments, costing Hanson roughly $330,000 this year. Select Board member Joseph Weeks moved to send the letter, and members pushed for tougher language, with one calling the county board's transparency "abysmal." The board also voted unanimously to object to the Town of Hanover's building permit fee increase, tied to a funding shortfall of up to $2 million at South Shore Regional Vocational Technical High School.

Separately, the board approved a Class II used car dealer's license for Route 58 Auto Exchange, Inc. at 200 Liberty Street, with a 44-vehicle capacity, and heard that Lakeville is quadrupling Hanson's animal control assessment from $500 to $2,000 a year.
