Hanson Select Board Appoints Interim Veterans Officer, Advances EV Charger Renovation

HANSON — January 13, 2026 — Hanson Select Board opens 2026 with a dozen unanimous votes, including an interim veterans officer appointment. The board appointed Terrence O'Keeffe, the Hanover veterans service officer, as Hanson's interim VSO after the position sat vacant since mid-December; Town Administrator Lisa Green said O'Keeffe had already begun assisting veterans who had been waiting for help. The board voted to authorize Green to advance a no-cost state-grant-funded replacement of two dead EV charging stations behind Town Hall, upgrading them from 3G to 5G connectivity with a five-year warranty and one ADA-compliant space, and referred updated battery energy storage system zoning bylaw language to the Planning Board for a public hearing ahead of the May Annual Town Meeting. Green reported the town's new three-year auditing contract with Rosselli Clark and Associates will save $30,000 against the budgeted figure, and that the town is applying for a $200,000 community compact IT grant. The board also directed Green to draft a policy barring all non-town organizations from placing signs on town property, extended Daniel Partardo's Hanson Housing Authority term to 2029, and approved a Class 2 license for KMD Construction LLC at 200 Liberty Street.
