Plympton Zoning Board picks GEI Consultants to review 40B housing hydrology

PLYMPTON — January 14, 2026 — Plympton's Zoning Board of Appeals voted to hire GEI Consultants for $12,000 to peer-review the hydrogeology report submitted by SLT Construction Corp. for a proposed 60-unit Chapter 40B housing development on Route 44. The board reviewed four competing proposals ranging from $6,600 to $15,000 before selecting GEI, with RMA Geoenvironmental named as a $14,776 backup if GEI cannot confirm availability or deliver within 30 days. The applicant told the board it would accept GEI's terms and grant "whatever extension you need" to complete the review. Fire prevention captain John Sherrist of the Clinton Fire Department reported that an existing solar-project perimeter road provides a viable emergency access route to the site with "99 percent of the road already exists." The applicant described a fire suppression plan centered on two in-ground polyethylene cisterns of up to 30,000 gallons each within 900 feet of every unit, with annual inspection required of the future homeowners association.
