Kingston Finance Committee Approves $3,000 Transfer to Harbormaster for Equipment Repairs
KINGSTON — June 9, 2026 — Kingston Finance Committee approves $3,000 reserve fund transfer to cash-strapped Harbormaster. The three-member panel — Chair David Fuller, Vicki Kelly, and Marsha Meekins — voted 3-0 Tuesday to cover costs from a burned engine replacement and a series of mooring hardware failures that had drawn the Harbormaster's self-funded emergency reserve down to nearly nothing. A representative told the committee the department's actual need runs closer to $4,000, but procedural rules barred altering the signed, agenda-listed request on the night of the meeting. The committee's FY26 reserve fund retains roughly $35,000 after the transfer, and a follow-up request for the remaining gap may come before the panel at its anticipated July 15 end-of-year line-item meeting.
