MARSHFIELD — March 23, 2026 — Marshfield Board of Public Works awards five contracts and grants an ADU trash waiver at March 23 meeting. The board unanimously approved contracts for catch basin cleaning with RJ Gabriel Construction Company of Bridgewater at $21.20 per basin, UV disinfection system parts with Veolia Water Technologies for up to $30,000, and emergency pump station electrical repairs with Daigle Electrical of Wilmington for $59,460 following a February blizzard that knocked utility poles onto power lines serving two stations. An organic fertilization contract with AR-GEE Tree LLC of Norwell was extended for a third year. A resident at 25 MacKier Terrace, Dean Copeland, received a unanimous waiver to add curbside trash and recycling service to his daughter's accessory dwelling unit, built in 2025. The board's most extended discussion centered on a disputed indirect cost methodology that one member argued overcharges the town's water, sewer, and solid waste enterprise funds by roughly $575,000 annually; after a line-by-line review removing charges tied to the assessors, town clerk, snow and ice, and other departments, the board calculated a revised total indirect charge of approximately $1,025,000, pending agreement with the Select Board on a written methodology.
